Carnage Continues

Part Two

At filthy clinic, babies met an inhumane end

IN HIS SQUALID West Philadelphia abortion clinic, Kermit Gosnell had a surefire way of dealing with the unwelcome complication of a live birth: He'd allegedly plunge scissors into the squirming newborn's neck, killing it by severing the spinal cord. Sometimes, the elderly physician didn't do this right away. Often, he allegedly gave the chore to his unlicensed office staff. One premature infant wiggled around on a counter for 20 minutes before an untrained worker slit his neck - after first playing with him.

Those allegations were among countless bombshells in a 261-page grand-jury report that District Attorney Seth Williams released yesterday.

Report of the Grand Jury: "The callous killing of babies outside the womb, the routinely performed third-trimester abortions, the deaths of at least two patients, and the grievous health risks inflicted on countless other women by Gosnell and his unlicensed staff are not the only shocking things that this Grand Jury investigation uncovered....Even nail salons in Pennsylvania are monitored more closely for client safety....Gosnell’s clinic – with its untrained staff, its unsanitary conditions and practices, its perilously lax anesthesia protocols...and its routine procedure of killing babies after they were delivered ...offers a telling example of how horrendous a Pennsylvania facility can be and still operate with DOH 'approval.'” January 20, 2011 | By DANA DiFILIPPO, difilid@phillynews.com 215-854-5934

Today on this Roe v. Wade day, the headlines read, "Abortion Doctor Charged With 8 Murders".

As important and shocking as this story is, something is missing in the story. At first glance it appears that this is a great example of how the pro-life movement is making progress in bringing justice to bear on the plight of unborn babies who are being ‘legally’ murdered by the millions in America. After all, the abortionist and his staff were caught red-handed murdering babies. They were arrested, refused bail, and today sit waiting for the wheels of American Justice to deposit them into prison for the rest of their caught-red-handed-in-murder lives.

 It seems that only a few have noticed that the arrest of the abortionist and his staff not only does nothing to protect the life of one unborn baby, but is in fact a validation of the idea that the existing American criminal justice system is worthy of the support of Christians.

Do you not see this? Arresting and prosecuting a person for murder of born babies, as important as this is, has nothing whatsoever to do with the battle that abortionists have been fighting for the last 38 years. Nothing! Everyone knows it is murder to murder a born child! There is no argument with this; the issue is whether born babies deserve the protection of the American criminal justice system if somebody murders them and at the same time the murder of unborn babies do not deserve the same protection; this is both criminal and unconscionable.

To conclude that progress is being made in helping the unborn babies who are being murdered by abortion when an abortion murderer of born children is prosecuted takes our eyes off the goal; The GOAL is to outlaw abortion, the murder of unborn people.  

Day of Infamy

January 22, 1973 is another day besides December 7, 1941, that shall live in infamy in American history. On this day, 38 years ago, the Supreme Court decriminalized the sin and crime of abortion. Tragically, they struck down every law in America that protected preborn children from those who would arbitrarily harm them in the sanctity of their mother's womb. With a stroke of the pen, the safest place for a child waiting to be born, instantly became the most dangerous. For nearly sixty million American children, the womb, which God created to nurture life became the tomb in which they died.

Roe vs. Wade is not only a bad legal decision that codified evil into law, but stands as a tribute to the basest aspects of our fallen human nature. It enhances the life of the strong at the expense of the weak. It protects large people as they victimize little people. With impunity, it allows parents to do the unspeakable to their own offspring. In the name of law, Roe vs. Wade established the foulest injustice in American history.

Roe vs. Wade not only violates God's Law, "Thou Shalt Not Murder," but also betrays our national covenant which states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

For 38 years and counting, America is refusing to uphold our first and foremost fundamental right, which is the right to life. No other rights as Americans are secure, if this right is denied. Freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the freedom of the press are of no consequence to a dead baby.

Roe vs. Wade is an abominable national tragedy. It should remind every American that we are failing once again to live up to our own creed. As a result, millions of little American citizens waiting to be born are finding to their horror that the "American Dream" has turned into a deadly nightmare.

Moreover, Roe vs. Wade raises a question that must be urgently answered in these tumultuous times. Can a nation that denies life and freedom to its most vulnerable citizens be worthy of life and freedom themselves?

Lastly, Roe vs. Wade is above all an urgent call to our blood-stained nation to repent of this national sin. Keep in mind that national sin brings national calamity. The many woes suffered by our nation today can be attributed to this spiritual reality. Therefore, to secure a future and a hope, the American holocaust must end. It is my sincere prayer that abortion not only become illegal once again, but may it become unthinkable in the United States of America.  Day of Infamy, Rusty Lee Thomas, Christian Liberty News, January 21, 2011
