Enemies List

The Wake-up Herald

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10).

“But know this, that if the owner of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up” (Matt 24:43).

“But while men slept, his enemy came …” (Matt 13:25).

The archenemy is Satan whose tactics can be traced to the Garden of Eden where he said to Eve, “You will not die if you disobey God’s law”. He has perpetuated his lie for 6000 years; spiritual death remains the consequence; sin is the transgression of God’s law; the wages of sin is death.

Back in 1988 Leonard Ravenhill gave a strongly prophetic statement in his book, Sodom Had No Bible:

Dr. Carl F. H. Henry, when editing "Christianity Today," posed the following question to some twenty leading Christian thinkers: "Sighting the final third of the Twentieth Century, what do you think it offers the church?" The answer of Dr. Elton Trueblood intrigued me, and here it is: "By the year 2000, Christians will be a conscious minority surrounded by an arrogant militant paganism" (Sodom Had No Bible, Bethany House Publishers, 1988, p. 13).

Ravenhill went on to say:

For a while I chewed over that statement and swallowed it, but the result was spiritual and mental indigestion. Meditating on it a bit more, I could see that his assessment also fitted the very day in which we are now living (ibid.).

There was a time when Ted Turner was the cable news king and had this to say about the Ten Commandments when he addressed the National Press Association in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1988:

“We’re living with outmoded rules. The rules we’re living under [are] the Ten Commandments, and I bet nobody here even pays much attention to ’em, because they are too old. When Moses went up on the mountain, there were no nuclear weapons, there was no poverty. Today, the Ten Commandments wouldn’t go over. Nobody around likes to be commanded.”

Turner offered, instead of God’s laws, his own rules, called “The Ten Voluntary Initiatives.”

For his trashing of Christianity, Turner, Sr. was named Humanist of the Year in 1990 by the American Humanist Association.

Nearly three decades later, God’s Word and the Ten Commandments are still alive and valid.

“For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89).

Joseph Farah said:

The Ten Commandments have been banished from our schools. They’ve been banished from our courtrooms and law schools. They’ve even been banished from some of our churches. Look what has become of America since.

“The problem is America is not limited to atheists, agnostics, cults and non-believers,” said Farah. “In fact, the biggest problem America has is with those who call themselves believers but who act no differently than the worldliest individuals on the planet. You can call these people backslidden. You can call them false converts. Or you can call them uninstructed, nominal believers. What they all have in common is they are not in obedience to God. They are not even trying to follow the most basic moral law, as Jesus and the prophets all instructed.” Joseph Farah, founder, editor and CEO of WND
