America's Greatest Need

The Wake-up Herald

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

America's Greatest Need
By Robert McCurry

It was mass confusion at the Democrat National Convention this week as the Democrats struggled over the troubling issue as to whether they should recognize God in their platform. After several voice votes—the outcome of which was anything but clear—the chairman slammed down his gavel and declared that the ayes have it and that, remarkably, God would be—if reluctantly—included in the party’s platform. And Hugh Betcha, Ace Reporter for Stoos Views International Media Conglomerate and Head of the Stoos Views Political Bureau—winner of the CNN Reporter of the Decade Award—was there.

Spotting Debbie Whatshername Schultz, Chairwoman of the National Democrat Party, reporter Hugh Betcha thrust a microphone into her face and asked a question that was on the minds of many.

“Why the confusion over one little word? What was the problem with simply acknowledging a divine presence in the universe?” asked Hugh.

“Well, as a politically correct, secular humanist, socialist party who believes in the supremacy of Mankind, it is a little uncomfortable acknowledging there is a ‘God’ so to speak,” said Schultz. “Makes us sound like a bunch of religious zealots, you know.”

“What tipped the scale in favor of mentioning God?” Hugh inquired.

“Well, we decided we were mistaken. There is indeed a God after all,” replied the Chairwoman. “He is speaking to the convention tonight.”

What ‘God’ was Schultz referring to when she said, ‘He is ‘speaking to the convention tonight’? Bill Clinton? Interestingly, Schultz’ definition of the ‘God’ of the Democratic Party is also the definition of America’s official ‘government god.’ The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1961 that ‘Secular Humanism’ is ‘a religion’.

secular adj.= 1. Worldly rather than spiritual. 2. Not specifically relating to religion or to a religious body: 3. Relating to or advocating secularism.

humanism n. = 1. A system of thought that rejects religious beliefs and centers on humans and their values, capacities, and worth. 2. Concern with the interests, needs, and welfare of humans

The DNC played a video that included the line, “Government is the only thing we all belong to.” Some attendees at the Democrat convention were asked about this video and they were delighted at the thought of being owned by the government.

Baptists fought a valiant and commendable battle and suffered great persecutions of fines, beatings and imprisonment during America’s early colonial days for refusing to pay taxes to support a State Church because it violated their conscience. What a blessed day it would be if their posterity with the same convictions had survived and could be with us today when we once again have a State Church—Secular Humanism—that requires everyone to pay taxes to support its religious doctrines of abortion, homosexuality, socialism, etc.

As goes the pulpit, so goes the church; as goes the church, so goes the nation. America’s current catastrophic moral, political, and economic crisis can be traced back to passive, silent pastors.

God called pastors are to proclaim His Word, to be vigilant watchmen sounding forth the clear clarion trumpet of God’s Word, calling both Christians and non-Christians alike to repentance; calling out God’s people to be ‘light and salt’ and war against the host of evil advancing all around us. America’s pastors, with a few exceptions, have failed in this responsibility and our country is paying a dire price for that failure.

America’s greatest need in this dark hour is ‘Thus saith the LORD’ preaching of God’s Word without compromise or apology “That men may know that God, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, is the most high over all the earth” (Ps 83:18); God’s Word is true! Jesus Christ is the only true God, Lord, and Savior; He is holy, sovereign and commands all to repent or perish! He alone is the answer to America’s humanly unsolvable ‘societal meltdown.’

Wake-up, Pastors! Wake-up, Christians!
