Adding Sin to Sin
The Wake-up Herald
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

Adding Sin to Sin
by Robert McCurry
“Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!” (Isaiah 30:1, 2).
The name Isaiah means "the salvation of the Lord" or "the Lord is salvation." Isaiah is the first book containing the writings of Bible prophets. He was a true patriot who loved his country and its people. He was committed to proclaiming ‘Thus saith the Lord.’ He was faithful in defining and warning of the consequences of sin, rebellion and apostasy. Although he spoke of the specifics of his day, the truth and principles of his message are timeless. For example, read the first five chapters of Isaiah in light of present day America.
September 11, 2001, was a day that history will record as one of America’s most infamous days. There is continuing research as to the truth regarding all the factors that transpired on that day; information on this subject is available on the Internet. Whether the incidents on that day were actual ‘terrorist attacks’ or an orchestrated government conspiracy will probably never be resolved to everyone’s satisfaction; two things, however, are absolutely certain: One, nearly 4000 people were killed on that day; two, America will never be the same. We mourn with the families and friends of those who fell during the attacks – and rightly we should. It is proper to memorialize the day.
Following Sept. 11, 2001, I said, ‘The tragic and destructive events of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, will never be forgotten. God has spoken to America in thundering tones and in box car letters across the heavens.’America did take notice. There were countless patriotic and religious gatherings; Billy Graham and President Bush spoke at a Sept. 14 memorial and prayer service attended by former presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton at the National Cathedral.
In the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attacks, millions of Americans flocked to churches and houses of worship. But, for most, the shift in spiritual behavior was short lived. According to tracking research by the Barna Group, within a few months the spiritual lives of the nation’s population were back to pre-attack levels.
Adding ‘sin to sin’ as thousands of others killed on September 11, 2001
On Sept. 11, 2001, over 4,000 people were plucked from life. They had no idea what lay ahead for them and that that day, Tuesday, would be their last. It was not their option to die that day. Someone else decided their fate for them. Without their consent and with no warning of the violent acts that were about to take place, these innocents were snuffed out.
Many were killed with malice aforethought in New York. Others were killed in Washington, D.C., and others in nearly countless other locations across America. But unlike those killed in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in an obscure field in Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, these thousands were killed without a headline, without mourning.
Unlike the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, rescuers were not allowed inside the buildings when the victims’ lives were in danger.
Unlike the events that day at the WTC, at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, nobody was shocked and the world wasn’t silenced in horror.
And that same absence of a sense of caring came the day before on Sept. 10, even though there were just as many killed that day also and on the day after, Sept. 12, when again nearly 5,000 were eliminated at others’ hands.
The killing of millions of unborn children receives little notice, with few exceptions, by pastors, and Christians at large; it receives little notice by the world.
Let us always mourn those who die innocently at the hands of others. Let us never forget.
January 22, 1973, was a day that history will record as America’s most infamous day; the US Supreme Court sanctioned legalized abortion; 55 million+ people have died.
Silence in the face of evil is itself evil; God will not hold us guiltless.
Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.Dietrich Bonhoeffer
