Politics, Pastors and Business as Usual Part 9
The Wake-up Herald
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

Politics, Pastors and Business as Usual
Part 9
by Robert McCurry
America’s political platform
“The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good” (Psa 14:1).
“Fools make a mock at sin” (Prov 14:9).
fool n. = 1. One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding; 2. One who subverts biblical Christian orthodoxy or varies from biblical conformity to spiritual and moral truth; 3. a person who is tricked or swindled; a person who is gullible and easy to take advantage of.
mock v. = 1. To treat with ridicule or contempt; deride, laugh at, insult, scorn, sneer, scoff, flout.
sin n. = The transgression of God’s Law.
America is now a politically pluralistic society and embraces a tolerance for divergent thinking. This means that all ideas and beliefs of the people are valid. In the interest of developing political pluralism, a country will seek to make everyone's religious viewpoints valid.
With political pluralism there is no right or wrong way to the God of the Bible. In the final analysis the value system is no longer defined, and there are no absolutes of right and wrong. Without the absolutes of right and wrong, the politically pluralistic society starts to degrade and will soon find itself no longer in existence.
Tragically, pastors and churches at large, with a few exceptions, have abdicated their functional responsibility to define sin, ‘good and evil’ and ‘right and wrong’ and given it to politicians and judges; having sown to the wind America is now reaping the whirlwind; sin has become obsolete; sixty million+ persons have been murdered via political sanctioned abortion since 1973; political sanctioned sodomy and same-sex marriage is now celebrated with impunity; the list goes on and on and on.
A voice in the wilderness
When Joe Wright, minister of Central Christian Church, was asked to open the new sessions of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:
THE PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, "Woe to those who call evil good," but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your word in the name of moral pluralism.
We have worshiped other gods and called it 'multiculturalism.'
We have endorsed perversion and called it 'an alternative lifestyle.'
We have exploited the poor and called it 'a lottery.'
We have neglected the needy and called it 'self-preservation.'
We have rewarded laziness and called it 'welfare.'
In the name of 'choice,' we have killed our unborn.
In the name of 'right to life,' we have killed abortionists.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it 'building esteem.'
We have abused power and called it 'political savvy.'
We've coveted our neighbors' possessions and called it 'taxes.’
We've polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it 'freedom of expression.'
We've ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it 'enlightenment.'
Search us, oh God, and know our hearts today. Try us, and show us any wicked in us. Cleanse us from every sin, and set us free.
Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent here by the people of Kansas and who have been ordained by You to govern this great state.
Grant them Your wisdom to rule, and may their decisions direct us to the center of Your will.
I ask it in the name of your son, the living savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest; three Democratic state legislators were on their feet in protest to his prayer. They labeled it ‘divisive,’ ‘blasphemous,’ ‘overbearing,’ ‘ignorant.’
America is in dire straits. Politics cannot save us. God says, ‘Repent or perish’.
Wake-up, Pastors! Wake-up, Christians!
