Speak Out for Those Who Cannot
The Wake-up Herald
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

Will You Speak Out for Those who Cannot?
by Robert McCurry
Roe v. Wade: 1973
Plaintiff: Norma McCorvey, using “Jane Roe” as an alias, and representing all pregnant women in a class-action suit
Defendant: Dallas County, Texas, district attorney Henry B. Wade
Plaintiff’s Claim: That the Texas abortion law violated the constitutional rights of McCorvey and other women
Place: Washington, D.C.
Date of Decision: January 22, 1973
Decision: Invalidated all state laws restricting women’s access to abortions during the first trimester (three months) of pregnancy and upheld only those second-trimester (three to six month) restrictions that protected the health of pregnant women
Significance: This landmark decision made abortion legal in the United States. 1.
Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, over 53 Million unborn babies have been killed.
In 2012, the CDC reported a total of 825,564 abortions (self-reported data from the central health agencies of 45 states). The Guttmacher Institute (Planned Parenthood’s research arm) reported a total of 1,212,400.
The CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports show that 46.1% of all abortions were performed on women who had at least one previous abortion.
Approximately 3,200 babies die every day from abortions.
Every 23 seconds a baby is killed by abortion in the US.
Based on Planned Parenthood’s annual report, it performed over 329,445 abortions in 2012, which accounted for 27% of all American abortions. Planned Parenthood performs an abortion every 96 seconds.
Who’s having abortions?
Identified by religion:
Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.; Catholic women account for 31.3%, Jewish women account for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as “Born-again/Evangelical.”
Identified by age:
52% of women obtaining abortions in the U.S. are younger than 25: Women aged 20-24 obtain 32% of all abortions; Teenagers obtain 20% and girls under 15 account for 1.2%. Source Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese.
Ouch! Look at those statistics closely and it shows that more than 68% of US abortions are being performed on babies in the wombs of women who claim to be Christian. Shame on us. What have we been teaching in our churches if those stats are true? Sadly, we are failing to communicate what God says about the sanctity of life from the moment of conception.
Rforh’s Carl Kerby makes a great point about this in many of his talks. He states that it is not the responsibility of the church house, the schoolhouse, or even the White House to train our children; it is the responsibility of our houses. Most Christians spend two hours or less in church every week. It is unrealistic for us to think that in the average 98 hours of waking time we have each week, that those 2 hours will overwhelmingly influence our lives. 96 hours are being spent in the world. What will have the most influence?
In December many thought about the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. January brings us back to the reality of our current state of society — a society in which an unborn baby has no rights and that life of the unborn can be terminated for any reason.
We cannot fight this fight screaming and yelling, we must quietly and calmly use the Word of God. Our job is to get the Word to those people. The Word will do its job, will we?
I can only think of the words Jesus used on the cross to the people who crucified Him:
“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34
We need to help people understand what they are doing when they take the life of an unborn child.
God caused the Israelites to wander for 40 years in the wilderness because they didn’t trust Him. Will we continue to wander in this wilderness of killing unborn children or will we speak up with words of truth?
Will You Take Six Minutes of Your Life to Remember Those Who Lost Theirs?
Roe vs. Wade is a law that never should have been passed. But it was passed, 40 years ago. And we feel very strongly that the anniversary of this law should not slip by without all of us truly taking the time to think about the consequences.
We ask that you would take six minutes of your time and listen to the testimony of one woman who decided to have an abortion, and only a few years later came to the realization of what that decision had cost. This video, from Focus on the Family, will touch your heart and encourage you to love the unborn and to be the voice of those who cannot speak for themselves.
Please … we ask you, please ….take six minutes out of your life in memory of those who have lost theirs. Click on the Video at the top of this article.
No One Has Ever Done To Us,What We Have Done To Ourselves!
This will be very short and sweet because I’m a simple man! After reading rforh’s CEO, Wade Wacker’s excellent article and watching Focus on the Family’s video on the impact 40 years of Roe vs. Wade has had on our nation please allow me to share a simple illustration.
Each cross that you see represents 25,000 deaths of Americans ( I can’t make half crosses so the numbers are rounded up).
Let’s start with wars:

Civil War – †††††††††††††††††††††††††
