Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 23:3-8

3  And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.

4  And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.

5  Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

7  Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

8  But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

My name is Garry, I am honored to be able to share today. The title of my message is Scriptural Events After the 1st Resurrection. I have enjoyed studying future events in the bible since I was in high school. Today, I will share a little about myself,  happenings shortly after the 1st resurrection, and experiences later in the Kingdom.

Job 19:25-26 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

Like Job, I hope that I will see God in my flesh, receive my reward, and take dominion back that was given to Adam before the fall. I was the third generation being raised in a Baptist church. At age of 8, after a compelling message that I was going to Hell. I walked down the aisle and gave my life to Christ. After the service, I went into a small room and a few scriptures in Romans were shared with the two others that came down the aisle. Later I attended a few classes and was water baptized a month later.

I was told in these classes that when I die, I would be going to heaven. But very little was taught about heaven. Except the concept that we would be floating around on clouds playing golf or doing fun things for eternity. I joined the weekly youth meetings and when I was in high school the pastor started a weekly bible study on Revelation

So, began my journey and love for finding out what the bible said about the 1000 year reign. In a course in the late ’70s, the big teaching was on the rapture and that we would be resurrected before the tribulation. As many of you remember there were dates given in the 80s, then the 90’s, then when the clock turned to 2000 that Christ would return. Boy did they miss it! I was not one of the ones that sold everything and moved to the supposable mountain where Christ was coming back any day.

After graduation from High School, I went for two weeks to Judson college, a Baptist-supported school near Chicago. I decided college was not for me. Ashamed to go back to the 1st Baptist church,  I planned on going to another Baptist church in a small town about 20 miles from home. I had attended there a few times that summer. When I inquired, I learned the pastor got kicked out of the Baptist church for his newfound beliefs and started a new church. I attended the new church and about 6 months later a beautiful young lady, named Joanne started attending. Later God put us together and we have been married for 45 years with 4 children. They have given us 12 grandchildren and two more on the way this summer. They all live in 4 different States. So, we only see them a few times a year.

Let’s move forward with my teaching. I believe God has given us special areas to study. Some like bible history, some like current events as related to the bible, some like mysteries of the Bible. My passion is the future prophecy relating to the tribulation and future Kingdom here on the earth. Let’s begin with scripture about where the Kingdom will be.

  • The Kingdom will be on the Earth. Rev 5:10  And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
  • We will be made kings and priests and reign with Christ for a thousand years: Rev 20:6  Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years.
  • If we are made Kings and Priests, then we must have a territory to rule over, and if Priest then we must know the law and judgments of the law: Rev 1:6  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

2014 Survey by Pew Research Center. Roughly seven-in-ten (72%) Americans say they believe in heaven — defined as a place “where people who have led good lives are eternally rewarded,” according to the Pew Research Center’s 2014 Religious Landscape Study. Of that 72%, these additional beliefs came out. There are different concepts about Heaven and the Kingdom of God. According to The Pew Research Center (Pew, 2021), a study about what people believe about heaven they on heaven found: The majorities of U.S. adults say they believe in heaven and hell.

Additionally Pew found, “More than four-in-ten Republicans (44%) believe in heaven and say that people who do not believe in God cannot go there – twice the share of Democrats who hold the same view (21%). Additionally, Americans who live in the South are more likely than those in other regions to believe in heaven and to say that people who do not believe in God are excluded.” (Pew, 2021)

What about the beliefs about when the Kingdom will or has happened? According to Stallard (2019),  while it is possible to label views of any individual passage as to whether it happened in the past, future, or some other option, the label is used mostly to describe one’s view of the end-time passages involving the tribulation period and the second coming focusing on Daniel, Revelation, and the Olivet Discourse.

Additionally, Stallard (2019) states, ”The issues are whether the tribulation and second coming passages in those texts are fulfilled in the past (preterist), present (historicist), future (futurist), or in a timeless way (idealist).” My views are futurist, I believe the second coming of Christ has not happened.

This lesson is not here to debate the different ideas about heaven, tribulation, or the second coming but rather to share scriptures about the Kingdom of God. In part 2, given in a later lesson, I will share about the tribulation period.

Let’s begin the lesson on the reign of Christ here on the earth

God intends for us to sit down at his words now and in the future:

Deuteronomy 33:3  Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words.

The Lord commands blessing and the Law from Mt Zion:

Psa 133:3  As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Isaiah 2:2-3 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

In eternal life, we will reign with Christ and the apostles will judge the 12 tribes:

Matthew 19:28  And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

The term Regeneration:

  • From Strong’s: Regeneration word G3824
  • Spiritual renovation: specifically, Messianic restoration
  • There be a great blessing in the kingdom

Those in the first resurrection will receive a 100-fold, be resurrected, receive their white garment, and everlasting life:

Matthew 19:29  And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

There are three types of people in the Kingdom:

  1. Saints (those who were given immorality). Dan 7:27  And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
  2. All Israelites. The Israelites alive after the day of vengeance. Isaiah 61:6  But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.  Does this mean Gentiles (mortals Gentiles) other than the saints will be in the Kingdom?
  3. The other races: The heathen (others) will serve the saints. [Note from Pastor Elmore:  As to the other races being in the Kingdom, we believe that only Israelites and the true descendants of Adam and Eve will be in the kingdom of God.]
    • Mic 4:5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.
    • Eze 39:21  And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
    • Eze 39:22  So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.

The Kingdom given unto the saints and never be destroyed:

Dan 2:44  And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

We Shall Judge Angels:

I Corinthians 6:1-3: Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

The power the saints will have to move mountains:

Matthew 21:20-21  And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

The full power of the Holy Spirit will be manifested through the saints:

Matthew 21:22  And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

After or during the apocalypse

The Lord descends from heaven and returns to Mt Olive:

Zechariah 14:4-5  And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.  And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

1Thessalonians 4:16  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

The parable of the 10 cities shows the reward in the kingdom:

Matthew 25:19-21 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.  And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Generations will be born in the Kingdom:

Psa 22:31  They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Psa 78:6-7 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:  That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

Children shall play in the Lord's holy mountain and not be hurt:

Isaiah 11:8-10 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.  And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

When the Lord hears, He will answer:

Isa 30:19-21  For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner anymore, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:  And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Isa 65:24  And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

As the Saints rule as Kings and Priest, they will hear from God on how to Judge or administer his judgment:

  • We will hear a word directly from God as to what to do.
  • He will speak from behind us
  • Before we call, he will answer

The idols will be destroyed then the rain and fruitfulness:

Isaiah 30:22-23  Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence. Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.

A child shall not die as an infant; Men will live long lives:

Isaiah 65:20  There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

Jamieson Fausset Brown Bible Commentary (1891)

  • The longevity of men in the first age of the world shall be enjoyed again; hence from that time forward.
  • The infant of days—that is, an infant who shall only complete a few days; short-lived: filled … days
  • None shall die without attaining full old age.
  • A child dies hundred years—that is, "he that dieth a hundred years old shall die a mere child".
  • A sinner dies hundred be accursed—"The sinner that dieth at a hundred years shall be deemed accursed," that is, his death at so early an age, which in those days the hundredth year will be regarded, just as if it were mere childhood, shall be deemed the effect of God's special visitation in wrath.

Rev 20:7-10  And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,  And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.  And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown continues this passage proves that the better age to come on earth, though much superior to the present will not be a perfect state; sin and death shall have a place in it (compare Re 20:7, 8), but much less frequently than now.

The resurrected saints will be immortal but those born during the Kingdom will enjoy long lives on the restored earth. They shall build houses and vineyards and enjoy them:

Isaiah 65:21-23  And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

Many mansions were prepared for the saints to live in:

John 14:1-4  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

A city (temple) built unto the Lord (See Ezekiel on the temple):

Jeremiah 31:38-40  Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner. And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.  And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.

What we will see in Jerusalem

Old men and old women dwell in the midst and streets full of children:

Zechariah 8:3-5  Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain.  Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.  And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.

Many nations will come to Jerusalem to be taught the law. The law will go out of Zion:

Micah 4:1-2  But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.  And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

The feasts will be reestablished, and all nations will come up year to year. All shall come to Jerusalem to keep the feast every year:

Zechariah 14:16  And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

If families from Egypt don’t come to worship, then there will be no rain:

Zechariah 14:17-19  And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.  And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.  This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

The weapons left will be burned for 7 years and Israel will use the materials:

Ezekiel 39:9-10  And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:  So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.

Israel is burying the dead for 7 months:

Ezekiel 39:12-13  And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.  Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.

Weapons after the wars will be used for fuel for 7 years:

Ezekiel 39:9-10  And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:  So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.

People are hired after seven months to bury and search for bodies:

Ezekiel 39:14-15 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.  And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man's bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.

Israel will set with the Lord and enjoy the spoils while the heathen see his judgments:

Jeremiah 30:3, 10-11  For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

We shall rule over the heathen and God gives all the earth to Israel. This is one of my favorite Psalm Chapter 2:

6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

7  I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8  Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9  Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

10  Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11  Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

In closing, we have seen many scriptures about the Kingdom of God. Take these scriptures and study them yourself. Rev 2:25-26 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.  And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations.
