Twins - Part 7
CONDITIONAL DOMINION
By Walter Giddings
June 20, 2021
Greetings kindred. We are on a first name basis here. My name is walter. This lesson comprises Scriptures that have puzzled me for a long time. This Lesson is not possible without The First 6 Lessons. The Subject is Twins by two different Fathers.
We come to the most challenging part of these lessons on the twins by two different fathers. When the doctrine of “the mother of all living” “who conceived by” [two] was first outlined to me I was struck numb. For a year I was in doctrinal paralysis. My ardent curiosity why someone would believe Cain’s father was Lucifer, not Adam, stirred me. Why were men and women with quiet reputation and ordered lives convicted Adam’s father hood of Cain is a bad paternity rap?! How to move forward I knew not, until I reviewed the nobility of the members of the Berean congregation in Acts 17:10-11.
Acts 17:10-11
10 And the brethren immediate ly sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so.
I could listen with a ready mind and search “the scriptures daily whether those things were so.” The companion scripture in Proverbs gave me the sense of caution I seemed to need.
Proverbs 14:15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
With this procedure, receiving The Word and searching The Scriptures, I quickly identified the Scripture where lived my doubt of the doctrine that Lucifer fathered Cain: Genesis 4:7. Why did I doubt the seedline doctrine? Why?!
I cannot read. When I first began to communicate my frailty I met a lot of resistance. Over time I learned to shed light on what I am saying by explaining what it is I am not saying.
I am not illiterate. I am a man of letters. I know my a-b-c’s. I even know my aleph-beyth-gimel and my alpha-beta-gamma. I have a usable foundation in grammar, the laws of my native language, English. I understand some things.
I cannot read. I am saying that I cannot read consistently, insistently and persistently with understanding. I first became aware of this as a high school sophomore. Our parents were firm believers that everyday is a test. We should welcome each day as an opportunity to test and know ourselves. This was a decade or more before that classic American iconic movie one-liner delivered by Clint Eastwood, “A man ought to know his limitations.”
I watched a certain sect of people who, like me, routinely took every test they could. They scored higher than I did, because they could understand quickly what they were reading. It awoke this inborn sleeping sense of panic in me. It took me years to discover that I had a lot of company among my own kind. For us, learning to read with understanding is a lifelong process. The source of our disability is the Fall. It confirms we are genuine direct lineal descendants of Adam and Eve. Here, in Luke 16:8, are two different ancestors: And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
“For the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” Who are we? Are we the children of this world? God forbid! Are we the children of light? Should we be born again, born from above, for that is our origin? Though we bear the image of the earthy,
That is not our origin! The Great Shepherd calls us sheep. Want to know who we are? Watch sheep for a while. The lesson is humbling. We are watching us! Who enjoys knowing there is something inherently wrong with them?! Who enjoys knowing he needs to be rescued? Is it embarrassing to be saved? Is it especially embarrassing to be saved from ourselves? Acknowledging our need for The Saviour wars against our carnal nature. Is my greatest enemy that “old man” in me? If I think that Lucifer, Satan, Devil, Dragon, Serpent is my greatest enemy I have a big problem! My greatest enemy is Me! When I am in my right mind I want that “new man” in me, in the image of Jesus Christ, increasing and growing daily.
In Lesson 6 Twins did we share the conclusive Scriptures that the woman was alone, her husband Adam away? Does that fact rebut beyond successful appeal, the presumption of Adam’s fatherhood of Cain? The world teaches us how to deny people an opportunity to be heard. Christian fellowship entertains the opposite, and provides hospitality to those who request to be heard. Scripture reminds us this is necessarily so.
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica in that they received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
“They received the word with all readiness of mind.” The nobility of the Bereans was they were teachable. They understood they could learn from anyone. They feared not to learn from all because they trusted The Scriptures, and had received “the love of the truth”. Are we fearless?
Can we have some fun with words? In the name Genesis place a finger, ruler, peice of paper or other device of convenience to cover the last two letters “i,s.” What is that revealed word? Genes is! The two fundamental Laws of Creation Order, the Law of Seed in Itself, mentioned twice, and the Law of Kind After Kind, mentioned 10 times, in Chapter One are twelve Witnesses that our Word Fun is not a Joke!
Genesis 4:7 completely destroyed any faith I had in my ability to read consistently, insistently and persistently with understanding. Please read and re-read Genesis 4:7 with me. I want to show you what is wrong with me!
Genesis 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
In Genesis 4:7 who is speaking? To whom is He speaking? Citing the first antecedent in Verse 6, Churchianity says The LORD is clearly addressing Cain.
Genesis 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
Does Verse 7 inform us Cain can do well and be accepted? Can Cain choose to avoid doing “the lusts” of the Devil? Are “Seedliners” dangerous Heretics? What do we do with this?!
Are we fearless? Should we give the Non Seedliners a hearing?
Do you recall I asked you to read and re-read Genesis 4:7 with me? Shall we re-read Genesis 4:7 in accordance with the claim that “thou” refers to Cain? To help us we will put the antecedents for the pronouns in apposition. In this case Apposition means next to the pronoun.
Genesis 4:7 If thou, Cain, doest well, shalt thou, Cain, not be accepted? And if thou, Cain, doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee, Cain, shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
“His desire.” Whose desire? Who is he? Is there an extra pronoun here that begs an antecedent? Many serious students of the Scriptures have taken notice of this extra pronoun, “his” and “him”, and said, I do not understand the extra pronoun. Who is he? If thou refers to
Cain, to whom do “his” and “him” refer?
Would it help at this point to review briefly our understanding of the laws of the English language, commonly called Grammer. By definition a pronoun is a word used on behalf of, or in place of a noun. The noun to whom the pronoun refers is termed the antecedent. Churchianity sees the antecedent Cain in Verse 6, and concludes “thou” in Verse 7 is Cain, Verse 6, the “thou” God asked why his countenance was fallen. What is the antecedent for “his” and “him”?
Do you know how many years I spent reading Genesis 4:7 without noticing the extra pronoun begging an antecedent? It appears twice in the same verse: “his” and “him”! Do you see what is wrong with me? I am still learning to read with understanding. (Visual aid).
We are not the only ones to notice this. The Interlinear Hebrew-Greek-English Bible attempts to clarify this. This valuable Bible contains the Hebrew and Greek texts from which the KJV is translated. The transposition from Hebrew to English in the interlinear, and the translation in the side margin are the original work of Jay P. Green, Sr. improved by scholars on a Board of Review, and from a volunteer Editorial Board. (3 sheets). Instead of “his desire” Green and the Reviewers and Editors translate [H8669] tesh-oo-kaw “its desire.” They have chosen to go from masculine to neuter. Is that valid? If the third person, neuter pronoun “its” is valid, what is the noun, or antecedent, in behalf of which it is used? What is “it”?
We have seen the definition of a pronoun. It is a word used on behalf of, or instead of, or in place of a noun. What is a noun? Anybody. A noun is not a person, place, or thing. What is it? It is the name of a person, place, or thing. Please do not feel bad : yours truly, been there, done that, got the T-shirt for it; it is a shared frailty.
We are looking for the antecedent of “it,” a noun which is the name of a thing. The word “sin” is the name of a thing. We can use test by substitution. We substitute the noun “sin” for the pronoun “it”.
Genesis 4:7 ... And unto thee [Cain} shall be [sin’s] desire and thou {Cain} shalt rule over [sin].
With the substitution of sin for it, did the meaning of this verse get clearer or muddier? The nearest neuter noun is “door”. And unto thee {Cain} shall be the door’s desire and thou {Cain} shalt rule over the door. If sin’s desire is muddier, the door’s desire is the muddiest.
Is there a claim persisting in our circles that God told Cain persistence in well doing would give the murderer of his womb brother dominion over sin? Is “dominion over sin” a fundamental doctrine of Christendom?
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
“Let us lay aside ... the sin that doth so easily beset us.” Does that sound like a daily task? Does that sound like dominion over sin is an onging war? In Romans does the Apostle Paul give us a clear picture of our carnality?
Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
“Sold under sin”. Are we “carnal, sold under sin”? Does that mean we do not have dominion over sin? Are we waging war for that Dominion? (Verse 23). Does Paul warn us that we are in captivity to the law of sin in our members?
Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Are we in captivity? Where then is dominion over sin? Did Paul say there is an ongoing war between the law in our minds and the law of sin in our members? Are wars fought to establish dominion? Will this war end on this side of life? Before Adam sinned, was part of the domin-ion mandate to replenish and subdue the earth? Did Paul issue us a specific warning not to allow sin to establish rulership in our mortal bodies?
Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
To presume that Green and staff intended “door” or “sin” as the antecedent is dis-respectful. We are no Judges of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Even with “its” we have an extra pronoun and an unidentified antecedent. (Last sheet, Canticle). There is one more witness. It is in the Green Interlinear Hebrew-Greek-English Bible. The same Hebrew word, consonant for consonant, {H8669} tesh-oo-kaw’, is translated in Song 7:10 “his desire.” Say again?! In the Green Interlinear the same Hebrew word is translated “its desire” in Genesis 4:7 and “his desire” in Song 7:10, clearly an unintended double mindedness. Suffix? H8669, tesh-oo-kaw,’ appears in Hebrew dictionaries containing 5 Hebrew consonants, the final consonant being He’. It is the fifth consonant of the 22 consonants of the Hebrew alphabet. In both Genesis 4:7 and Song 7: 10 H8669 tesh-oo-kaw’has an extra consonant added to the end of the word. Additions to the end of a word are called suffixes. This suffix is the sixth consonant of the Hebrew alphabet vawv. In Allen P. Ross’ Introducing Biblical Hebrew published 2001 by Baker Academic, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Lesson 14, Pronominal Suffixes, page 113, Section 14.1 informs students “the suffix is normally a possessive pronoun.” Section 14.2 identifies the pronominal suffix vawv 3msg. Third person singular means he she or it. Masculine means he. The 3msg possessive pronoun is “his”. The question of the extra pronoun stands. Who is he?
What antecedent can we substitute in Genesis 4:7 for “his” and “him”? What reading can we give Genesis 4:7 that creates no disharmony with the other Scriptures? Are other antecedents available? Through the end time prophet Isaiah our Heavenly Father tells his family Israel, “Come now, and let us reason together.” [Isaiah 1:18]. Does God condemn reason if we reason together with Him?
Is it possible God is addressing other people beside Cain? Is there anyone else here? How public was Cain’s embarrassment? (Genesis 4:3). “And in process of time it came to pass” is a double time reference : linear time and cyclical time. Cyclical time of course is the 4 seasons. Was the sacrifice at a time and place set certain? Do we trust the Scripture references we covered in the first 6 Lessons on Twins? Did Lucifer father Cain in Eve? Why is Lucifer’s son in the church? Is someone aggressively sponsoring his presence? Did Eve love her first born Cain? Did God intervene in a family feud? Did God have respect unto Abel and his sacrifice? Did God have not respect unto Cain and his sacrifice? Was Adam in church? Was he also sacrificing? Was Eve present? Was she under her husband’s cover? How did Adam feel about the presence of Eve’s first born son? Does Cain belong here? If the church is a body of believers, do unbelievers belong?
Did Adam take a stand that Cain had no part in the body of believers? Did Eve withstand her husband and aggressively sponsor Cain’s presence and his sacrifice? Did Adam and Eve have marital problems? Did they fight over the kids? In marital combat, is training the children an issue? Later on in Genesis, did Isaac prefer Esau while Rebecca favored Jacob? What Scriptural evidence do we have Adam and Eve fought over the twins?
Genesis 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
“I have gotten a man from the Lord.” When Eve was alone, and her husband away, did she believe she was with the LORD? Did Lucifer impersonate God?
Isaiah 14:13-14
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds: I will be like the Most High.
“I will be like the Most High.” Does Satan pretend to be God? Is that a case of Impersonation? Does Scripture call Satan’s Impersonation “The Lie”?
Ezekiel 28:14-15
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth, and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
Did Satan hold an exalted position by God’s appointment? Was he very familiar with the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north? Did he usurp authority? Before Ezekiel, did we read in Isaiah: “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north, I will ascend above the heights of the clouds?”
Before Adam sinned, was he the god of the world?
2 Corinthians 4:3-4
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
When Adam abdicated Dominion, who stepped in? Does Scripture tell us the god of this world blinds the minds of the lost? When Adam abdicated Dominion did Lucifer become the god of this world? Does Lucifer impersonate God? If the light of the gospel shines unto us, is the god of this world exposed? Does blinding the minds of the lost prevent Lucifer’s exposure?
Did Eve say she acquired Abel from the LORD? Or did she only say it about Cain?
Genesis 4:2 And she again bare his brother Abel...
The verse continues, naming the twins’ means of earning a living : Cain, crop husbandry; Abel, animal husbandry. Does Eve say she got Abel from the LORD?
Was Eve with the Serpent when she ate?
Genesis 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that hou hast done? And the woman said, The Serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Did the woman eat when the Serpent with her deceived her?
Was Eve with Adam when Adam ate?
Genesis 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
Are The Scriptures telling us that the Serpent was with Eve? Are the Scriptures telling us that Adam was with Eve? Did Eve bear twins by two different fathers? Did Eve think the LORD was Cain’s father? Does Lucifer impersonate God? Does Lucifer want the worship? Does that rebel angel want us to think he is God!
Romans 6:16 Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Is obedience the highest form of worship? Is what we obey our God? Does Lucifer impersonate God and want the worship? How well do we know the God who reveals himself in His Word? Is Lucifer willing to reveal himself? Is he active, blinding the minds of the lost? If the Bible is a closed Book to me, do I worship Satan? How well do I know the Revealed God of the Bible? Do I obey Lucifer? Was the Serpent able to deceive Eve while she was in her forever living body? Am I Lucifer’s chump change in the fallen state? How helpless is our estate? Did Gideon test the Spirits by putting out a fleece? Do I remember to test the spirits in accordance with God’s Word? Did Jesus our Saviour answer the Tempter in the wilderness with The Word of God? Does the Devil win the Academy Award for Best Actor every year?!
Does the context of Genesis 4 show the presence of people other than God and Cain?
Did Eve repent, and sing a different tune about Cain? How long did Adam and Eve battle each other over the kids? Do husband and wife cleave while they are battling? Or, do they fit that in, make-up time, when the battle is over?
Genesis 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: for God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
“And Adam knew his wife again.” How long did that take? In Scripture the age of majority for the military is (20) twenty. In Scripture the age of majority for the ministry is thirty for the Levites and thirty for Jesus. If we call the fathering of the twins in Eve by two different fathers zero, and Adam is one hundred thirty years (130) old at the birth of Seth, [Genesis 5:3], then Abel has been dead at least one hundred (100) years. 100 Years! And we think we have marital problems?!
In Genesis 4:25 does Eve say instead of Cain? No. She says “instead of Abel.” Were Abel and Seth fathered by Adam? And Cain was not fathered by the LORD. Is what Eve said about Seth a complete reversal of what she said about Cain in Genesis 4:1? Is she now dedicated to “her seed” through Seth?
Are others here beside God and Cain? How has the thought not occurred to us earlier? In the first 8 verses of Genesis 4, other than Cain, who is named most often? His womb brother : 6 times! May I reread Genesis 4:7 and insert the antecedent Abel:
Genesis 4:7 If thou, [Abel], doest well, shalt thou, [Abel], not be accepted? And if thou, [Abel], doest not well, sin lieth at the door: And unto thee, Cain, shall be his, Abel’s, desire, and thou, Cain, shalt rule over him, [Abel].
Quo Warranto? What warrants the antecedent Abel for “thou”, instead of Cain? Quo Warranto is a question and the name of a record to a court under the common law, the Law Common to Israel. Quo Warranto requires the adversary to submit evidence and the testimony of witnesses that warrants his action(s). Did Jesus say in Luke 4, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God”? Are the evidence and testimony already here?
First, Abel is the second most mentioned antecedent in Genesis 4:1-8. [6 times]. He is an eligible and available antecedent.
Second, it confirms the Scriptures in John 8 that Cain and his progeny do the deeds and lusts of their father, the devil. Can Cain do anything other than the deeds and lusts of his father?
Third, it hardens the motive for murder in the next verse, Genesis 4:8. Does 1 John 3:12 say “Because his own works were evil and his brother’s righteous”?
Fourth, Does Cain assassinate the chief witness against him? If God did not intervene, would Abel’s body have ever been found? Corpus delecti?
Fifth, are we in “captivity to the law of sin” in our members to do the lusts and deeds of our Adamic father and mother in the Garden, hiding and covering our sin with fig leaves instead of God’s clothing, hiding from God among the world’s family trees, and shifting the blame to others? If we do the lusts and deeds of our first earthly father Adam, how much more will the children of this world do the lusts and deeds of their father the serpent, the enchanter?
Sixth, has the extra pronoun begging an antecedent vanished?!
Seventh, does the Law of Hermeneutics request in the nature of a commandment that we perceive the Harmony of the Scriptures?!
In Genesis 4:7 do we see, when”sin lieth at the door”, that Cain has a dominion? “And unto thee, Cain, shall be his, Abel’s, desire, and thou, Cain, shalt rule over him, Abel.” Does Cain’s dominion occur with the sins of Adam’s progeny? Do the descendants of Cain rule over the unregenerate sons of Seth? Is Cain’s Dominion or “Rule” conditional? Is Sin blinding? Does a man, who can see, deliberately fall into a ditch?
Psalms 125:3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
Does our “righteousness” source only from Christ indwelling? The Hebrew word translated “lot” is the same as the lands allotted to the tribes of Israel under Joshua. Does “lot” reference our eternal inheritance? Does verse 3 in Psalm 125 mean every Christian man’s house is his castle? In the most basic things of life are we being rehearsed in Dominion? Does a backsliding family in sin lose Dominion? Is the house of a family in Christ a castle? What fate awaits the household of a family buried in the practice of sin?
The Lesson Title is The Dominion of Cain. Did inserting Abel into Genesis 4:7 create disharmony with the other Scriptures? Does the antecedent Abel preserve The Harmony of The Scriptures?
Why does The Dominion of Cain fail when Abel does righteously? Does the conditional Dominion of Cain work the same with Seth and his progeny?
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Is the practice of sin blinding? Can blind people see light? Does “the light of the glorious gospel of Christ ... shine unto” the blind? If we desire all that is in the world more than “eternal life”, will our desire be unto Cain’s Progeny? Will The Serpent Seed have Dominion, and rule over us? In the practice of sin, do we, Adam’s progeny through Seth, become the prey of a foul command? To be continued one more time, God willing, on another occasion.
