Dispensationalism vs. Christian Identity Theology - Part 5

Scripture Reading: Luke 13:6-9

Christianity is not a religion with no disagreements.  It is full of them.  Here are some examples.

There are churches that teach that:

  • The earth is flat,
  • The universe is only 6,000 years old,
  • There were no giants on the earth; Goliath was only seven or eight feet tall,
  • There were dinosaurs on the earth, but there are churches that don’t know exactly when they were on the earth,
  • Noah’s flood was world-wide; the earth’s population was reduced to eight people 4500 years ago,
  • The entire population of the world lived in the land of Shinar and spoke only one language about 4300 years ago,
  • All creatures of the earth are created equal,

Mistranslations

Scripture Reading:  Genesis 8:11:

“And the dove [bird] came in to him [flew back to Noah who was still in the ark] in the evening; and, lo, in her [the bird’s] mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off [from the live olive tree]: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.”

If the waters covered all the earth, higher than the tallest mountain, wouldn’t the oceans cover all the different kinds of trees, including the olive tree, in most instances by many miles?  Wouldn’t the flood destroy all vegetation with its salt derived from the oceans?  So, how could the dove, fly from the ark and retrieve a live olive leaf shortly after the flood, if all the trees and all the vegetation had been destroyed for over a year?

Genesis 7:4: “For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.”

According to this mistranslation, does it mean that the flood was world-wide?  That there were no giants, no evil seed line and no one else left alive on the earth?  That there were only eight people, of the same race, on the earth just 4500 years ago?

Scripture Reading:  Romans 7:4

Who was the Apostle Paul’s brethren?  Paul said in the Holy Scriptures that he was of the tribe of Benjamin of the kingdom of Judah/Israel (Philippians 3:6).  So, his brethren would be those of the tribes of Israel.  He also predicted that his brethren would become dead to the marriage law and would be remarried to the resurrected Christ. This cannot be applied to anyone else besides Israel, for they were the ones that were married to Him previously.  One can only be REmarried if they had been married once before.

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:11-12

Dispensationalism is a very popular and widespread way of studying the Bible. But it only originated in the late 1500s with the pen of one of the Catholic Jesuits.  It was picked up two-and-a-half centuries later in the teachings of John Nelson Darby of the Plymouth Brethren in the United Kingdom and Ireland.  Then the doctrine was spread through the channels of:

  • The writings and speeches of Darby and Americans James Inglis, James H. Brookes, Dwight L. Moody, Cyrus I. Scofield, Lewis Sperry Chafer, Harry A. Ironsides, Arno C. Gaebelein, J. R. Graves, Billy Graham, R. A. Torrey, Gary North, Pat Robertson, Renald Showers, D. J. Kennedy, R. C. Sproul, Arthur Pink, etc.
  • A series of major prophecy conferences in the 1880s,
  • The more than 100 Bible institutes founded in the United States in the first half of the twentieth century,
  • Publication of the Scofield Reference Bible which was published in 1909.

Scripture Reading Matthew 7:22-23

“Beware of false prophets” (Matthew 7:15a) is the warning that Jesus Christ gave to His covenant people. The false prophets are ravening wolves dressed up as sheep.   Jesus tells His people that the false prophets will:

  • Prophesy in the His name,
  • Will cast out demons in His name, and
  • Will do many wonderful works in His name.

Does anyone here know any false prophets?   Does anyone here know of any preacher who casts out demons in the name of Jesus the Christ? My conclusion is that there are significant more false preachers in our land than real preachers!

Matthew 7:28: “And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at His doctrine.”

Five Controversies

Scripture Reading: Titus 1:14:

There are several major discrepancies and controversies that are in the different English versions of the Bible that we now have.  There are also many stories that are hard to believe, but they are true, nevertheless.  But many of the stories can be interpreted in different ways.  Most of the details are missing in the Bible.

Sometimes in Scripture there are no sure answers to all the particulars of the story.  Some are popularly viewed with a very wrong interpretation.  I picked some of the more interesting ones to decipher.

Athaliah

Murderous Queen of Judah

I was asked about the children of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel about three years ago.  I have wondered about this situation for many years and didn't receive any help from most Bible commentators.  Very few preachers preached about the subject.   I now have the time, so I will attempt to answer these questions.  They are very important questions because it questions the LORD’s pure genetics.  And any attempt to give an answer is difficult because there are kings in two different kingdoms that have the same name and they ruled at the same time.

Scripture Reading:  Ezekiel 8:13-14

The House of Israel and twenty-two cities of the House of Judah were taken captive by the Assyrians.  The House of Israel was given a bill of divorcement from Almighty God.  This ten-tribe House of Israel wouldn’t be put back into the covenant that God made with their fathers for about 700 years from the time that Ezekiel was shown this vision.  By the time they were put back, they had become many nations living in different parts of the world.  They had no hope of salvation without the sacrifice and resurrection of their Messiah.  There wasn’t one thing that they could do.

Who Do the Calvinists Say Receives the Promises of the Covenant?

Scripture Reading: Matthew 24:24

Replacement Theology is common in Western churches. It teaches that since the Jews were scattered amongst the nations due to their rejection of God’s way, then the Christian church has replaced national Israel regarding the plan, purpose, and promises of God.  I am going to examine part of two articles of two of Calvinist’s great modern-day theologians, R.C. Sproul and Loraine Boettner.

The Bible is so Easy to Read

Scripture Reading:  MATTHEW 13:36

Have you ever wondered why the LORD Jesus spoke in parables?  One example would be the parable of the “tares of the field.”  After speaking this parable, the crowd left and Jesus went into the house.  His disciples shortly joined Him and asked for an explanation of the parable.   Jesus only gave the interpretation of the parable to His disciples.  Why?  Because the crowd was not there; they had been sent away.

One of the questions that was asked by His closest followers, was why He spoke in parables.  His answer would be astounding and very confusing to the modern-day Judeo-Christian.  It would be hard for them to understand.  For the Messiah said that it was only His disciples that were granted to know about the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to the crowd it was not granted.  What?  Jesus said that the multitudes were not given the opportunity to know about the mysteries of the kingdom of God.
