Scripture Reading:  Galatians 1:6-9

“The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints is unique among all the religious cults and sects active in the United States in that it has by far the most fascinating history, and one worthy of consideration by all students of religions originating on the American continent.

The Mormons, as they are most commonly referred to, are divided into two major groups.  The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Utah, and The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, with headquarters in Independence, Missouri” The Kingdom of the Cults, Walter Martin, p. 147, have a combined membership of close to 15,000,000.

False Brethren

Scripture Reading: Galatians 2:4

This subject needs its own sermon, especially in light of what we’ve been talking about lately regarding the church world as well as our own movement.  The phrase ‘false brethren’ is only found twice in the New Testament and I’d like to give a richer understanding of what these personalities entail.  We’ve heard of false prophets, false apostles, false witnesses and false teachers, but what exactly constitutes false brethren?  The mainstream churches have terribly desecrated the biblical meaning of the word “brother” with a Masonic substitute, ‘the brotherhood of man’, implying a restoration of a multicultural Babylon.  And indeed, Mystery Babylon is infested with brethren who are not true to their own race and the ancestral faith of their fathers.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.   Romans 13:11-14

Why We Are Where We Are

Part 4

by Robert McCurry

Pastors are to be a ‘watchman on the wall’

watch n. = The act of watching; forbearance of sleep; vigil; wakeful, vigilant, or constantly observant attention; close observation; guard; preservative or preventive vigilance; formerly, a watching or guarding by night; to be attentive or vigilant; to give heed; to be on the lookout; to keep guard; to act as sentinel.

Ezekiel 3 17Son of man, I have made thee a watchman: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

Ezekiel 33 1Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

2Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:

Judeo-Christianity

Scripture reading:  I Thessalonians 2:14-16

Have you ever wondered about the hyphenated words:  “Judeo-Christian” or “Judeo-Christianity?”  Can you find these terms in the Bible?  Does it mean that Christianity owes its existence to Judaism?  That Christianity came out or is a splinter group of Judaism.  Was Jesus Christ a Jew?  Were the Apostles Jews?  Were the early churches Jews?  Isn’t that what is implied by the hyphen?
