The Sword Of The New Covenant

by Pastor Mark Downey

The invention of the sword goes back to the early Egyptians around the time of the Bronze Age, which was about a thousand years after Adam.  I believe metallurgy was a gift from God to the White race.  Two identification marks (and there are over 100) of Israel would be great agricultural wealth and land having an abundance of minerals.  Deut. 8:9 covers both aspects, “A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness… a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou may dig brass.”

Swords developed gradually from the scythe, a farming tool used to harvest grain.  But where did the White man get the idea for a sword?  I think it’s interesting that God introduces the first recorded weapon of war in the Bible, not man.  If you recall Adam and Eve being driven out of the Garden of Eden, God placed the “Cherubim and a flaming sword that turns every way to guard the way to the tree of life” (Gen. 3:23).  The idea of a sword then is to protect something.  In early usage, the sword, no doubt, defended their source of life, their gardens, from outside threats.

If you look up the word ‘sword’, you’ll find the Hebrew word ‘chereb’ (#2719), which comes from 2717 meaning ‘to parch (through drought)’, supporting the word chereb, which means drought, having a secondary definition of ‘a cutting instrument (from its destructive effect), as well as 2717 saying, ‘by analogy, to desolate, destroy, kill.’

Ark Work Could Start Soon

A Cincinnati Enquirer Article

This is how the article begins in the Saturday, June 11, 2011 Enquirer:

Groundbreaking for the $172 million Ark Encounter project could be as early as August, now that tax rebates for the attraction have been greenlighted.

The approval of incentives virtually assures the project will be built on the Grant County site identified by developers at a December press conference in Frankfort.

‘This was the site that we really liked and everything was predicated on getting this approval,’ said Mike Zovath, senior vice president for Answers in Genesis and project manager for Ark Encounter LLC.

The Old Man: Dead on Arrival Part 2

Pastor Mark Downey

July 24, 2011

By way of review, so far we have established that the old man to which Scripture points to negatively is none other than self and all of the hyphenated character defects that emanate from it: self-righteousness, self-centered, self-indulgent, self-aggrandizement, self-justification, self-will and on and on it goes.

Spirit Steady – Combat Ready Part 1

In Charles Dicken’s ‘A Tale of Two Cities’, a well known classic line stated, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”  I’ve been hearing for years that these are trying times and that it’s an exciting time in which we live.  I’m guilty of repeating these clichés, but I don’t find it very exciting when my patience is tried.  Nevertheless, Scripture saith, “Tribulation worketh patience” (Romans 5:3).  So, men and brethren, what shall we do?

We live in a day and age in which there are some very smart and wise people as well as despicable idiots; the best and the brightest vs. the worst and the dullest.  We live in an era of true believers and also rancid atheists.  It is a winter of freezing blizzards and a summer of scorching drought.  We put all our cards on the table, yet have nothing to wager – nothing to win and nothing to lose.  Millions think they will be raptured off to heaven and millions resign themselves to the pits of hell.

A Few Answers to "Answers In Genesis"

By Don Elmore

June 19, 2011

The June 11, 2011 Saturday Enquirer had another story about the “Answers in Genesis’” new park in nearby Grant County, Kentucky. The headline was:  Ark Work Could Start Soon; with the secondary headline being:  Tax rebates pave way for $172M attraction. It was on page one, right at the top of the first page; and it continued on to page A12.

One wonders why this organization gets such good promotions from the newspaper. And this story is not unique; there have been many stories about “Answers in Genesis” throughout the years. Many of them, front page stories!

I remember when they only had a book and cassette tape room in a very small space in a small strip mall, located at their headquarters in Florence, Kentucky.   In around twenty years they have built a Museum (worth over $30 Million and totally paid for) and now plan to build a $172 Million park with full-size replica of Noah’s Ark, a Walled City with retail, food and themed venues, a children’s play area, a Tower of Babel with a special-effects theater and a Noah’s Animals area with a petting zoo. Other exhibits include a Journey Through History themed attraction, a First-Century Village, an aviary and a special-events area for large gatherings. Both of these attractions are/will be in northern Kentucky.

Homeland Security Surveillance

The Wake-Up Herald

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

Blogger noted for opposing homosexual lifestyle choice

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has begun watching a blog posted by a Christian who was forced to flee Brazil because of the conflict between that nation's pro-homosexual 'hate crimes' agenda and his advocacy for traditional marriage. ...similar crackdowns could be coming in the U.S. because of the federal 'hate crimes' bill signed by Obama....'Brazil grants freedom to preach Christianity, provided that the sermons avoid negative mentions of state-protected behaviors and cultural trends,' Severo said....

That law enhances penalties based on the thoughts of the person suspected of committing a crime.

Pastor Rick Scarborough of Vision America Action and Mathew Staver of Liberty Counsel voiced their opposition to the law at the time. While there has not yet been a large-scale crackdown on pastors who preach against homosexuality, there are indicators that such developments could be in the offing.

Another Candidate

by Pastor Don Elmore

We are now more than two years away from the next Presidential election; and election that won’t make much difference to the United States.  As usual, the Banking cartel has picked the opponents on both sides of the election:  Democrats – Obama; Republicans – Gingrich.

Newt Gingrich proposes the end to Christianity and as a consequence terminates the old fashioned morality.  In other words, Newt wants the “New World Order” to soon come to pass and the Old America to disappear.

He recently, last year, changed his religious denomination from Southern Baptist to Roman Catholicism.  The former House Speaker, Bohemian Grove member and Council of Foreign Relationships is fitted to be a President of a nation that he would like to change.  You can find him on television shows constantly arguing for his positions.

Identifying Israel - Part 10

The Genealogical Record

by Jim Jester

Complete series available in book format: Will the Real Israel Please Stand Up?

Hosea 4:6, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge….

So many people (including myself in the past) have wondered why the Bible includes genealogical records. The question seems to automatically pop into most peoples’ minds, “Why are these here? It doesn’t matter who you are.” And we skip over these records as insignificant to the Biblical revelation. But, there they are! They confront the Bible reader in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. There must be a good reason. It may be that this is what Hosea is talking about in the above verse: knowledge about the Law of Yahweh and knowledge about who we are! This is the point of knowing something about the genealogical record of the Bible. The response most preachers give regarding genealogy is, “God cares about everybody and knows us by name.” That may sound sweet and caring, but that’s not a serious response from a theological point of view. Any serious Bible student knows that every scripture must fit together in harmony with the Bible as a whole, and hopefully with the established doctrines of their particular church.
